MSU is finalist for 2010 Monkey Awards

Morehead State University has been selected as a finalist for the third annual Contactless Intelligence Monkey Awards, which is sponsored by VISA Europe.

MSU is one of the top four in the “Competitive Advantage Through Technology” category for its EagleCard. The award is for any company or organization that has gained an advantage in business by implementing contactless technology.

Others in MSU’s category are: AMT Coffee (U.K.); Wright Express - Sheetz NFC trial in petrol stations (U.S.); and ViVOtech - Citibank NFC trial in Bangalore (India).

Project partners for MSU include the CBORD Group and HID Global.

“Our nomination for this international award came as a complete surprise,” said Doug Snedegar, EagleCard coordinator.

“Being recognized for our hard work and dedication is truly an honor, but to be included with such nominees as Aramark, Subway, and Coca Cola Vending for the 2010 Winter Olympics, is a wonderful acknowledgement not only for the EagleCard program but for Morehead State University as well."

The Monkey Awards are presented to those companies, organizations and retailers who have done the most to embrace and implement contactless technology into their day-to-day operating practices. These awards represent a real promotional springboard and give the winners a reputation and credibility for their efforts within the industry.

The competition is open to all implemented contactless applications within the relevant sectors, regardless of geographic region or size of corporation.

Selected by a panel of experts, the awards will be presented at a prestigious ceremony to be held in London, England, on Thursday, April 29.

Additional information is available by contacting Snedegar at (606) 783-2701.
